#Azure for Students and Azure Dev Tools

Status check — August 2026

Microsoft changed the access policy for Azure Dev Tools for Teaching on 15 August 2025: only institutions already signed up keep access, and no new institution sign-ups are accepted. Whether you can still download developer software through it depends on DigiPen’s existing subscription. If the Education Hub shows you nothing, that is why — email helpdesk.sg@digipen.edu and we will tell you where the licence stands.

#What every student can get today

Azure for Students does not depend on the Dev Tools programme:

• USD $100 of Azure credit for 12 months
• A range of free Azure services
• No credit card required — you verify with your DigiPen student email

#Downloading developer software

Software is not on a separate website any more. It lives in the Education Hub inside the Azure portal:

1. Sign in to portal.azure.com with your DigiPen student account.
2. Search for Education and open the Education Hub.
3. Open Software to see the catalogue and product keys available to you.

The old link aka.ms/devtoolsforteaching now redirects to Azure for Students verification, not to a software portal.

#About the old software list

This page used to carry a hand-typed list of ~26 products. It has been removed rather than left to rot: the catalogue changes without notice, and several entries had outlived their products — Windows 10, Visual Studio for Mac, R Server, Machine Learning Server and Skype for Business Server are all retired by Microsoft. Visual Studio Code never needed a subscription; it is free for everyone at code.visualstudio.com.
